Jeju Island — Rev 1

Jeju Island — also called The Main Island — is the primary map in Motor Town: Behind the Wheel, modelled on the real-life Jeju Island in South Korea. It is a temperate volcanic island whose geography mixes beaches, grasslands, flower fields, forests and a snow-capped volcano at the centre.

Geography and layout

The island is largely rural, with several farms and ranches, a couple of harbors, a fishing village, and a handful of small towns. A snow-capped mountain — the in-game stand-in for Hallasan — sits in the middle of the island, surrounded by a touge-style ring of roads.

Jeju is connected to Oji Island and Ansan Island by a network of high-speed highways and bridges. Long causeways connect the south-western and eastern shores to Ansan, which in turn bridges across to northern Oji.

Towns and major settlements

21 named locations on Jeju are mapped in TinyTown. The largest is the combined Gangjung / Seo-Gui-Po urban zone on the south coast — every new character spawns in Gangjung with a starter house and a Tuscan.

  • Jeju City — north coast; airport, harbor, dealership.

  • Hallim — fishing village on the west coast.

  • Aewol — small north-west town with the Pumpkin Farm and Furniture Store.

  • Seongsan — far-east town; gateway to Oji via the bridge through Ansan.

  • Gujwa — food-factory hub on the east coast.

Industry on Jeju

Jeju is the supply-side of most short-haul cargo loops: Hanon Rice Farm grows rice for the supermarkets, Gujwa's food factories produce bread/milk/cheese pallets, the Sangdo Lumbermill cuts logs from Migeum into planks, and the airport and harbor in Jeju City import and export containers.
